Lookee what arrived today! Meet Midge (the name hit me on the drive home). She's not fully assembled here - I was too excited about taking a picture before the sun went down.
I am befreakin' side myself! It's a good thing I bought a bunch of roving at Stitches West in February - I am so not-good at spinning! But now that I've got my own, I should improve pretty fast.
Can life get any better? I don't think so!

Oooooooooooooooooooooo! That's brilliant. I can't wait to see how it goes. I've been playing with spindles lately and I see a whole new way to amass a stash. Pre yarn stash! Bahahahahahaha
Congratulations and happy spinning!
Congratulations!!! I hope Midge brings you many hours of joy.
Welcome to blogland! I just posted my Joy to ebay! I bought a Majacraft Rose and just don't have the room for two wheels. I loved my Joy but I like the honkin' big Majacraft bobbins even better. Good luck with Midge!
Oh! Hello to Midge! She's fantastic. :)
Oh man - A New Wheel, a momentous occasion. Hi, Midge! And yep, you get your own wheel, you get better awfully fast. Have fun!
Midge and I thank you for the congratulations. And yes Monicapdx (I wish I had your email to respond to!) just 2 evenings and I'm already a LOT better at this. I've filled up one bobbin and a tiny portion of another - I can't wait to ply it and see how it turns out! I'm hoping for worsted weight - which is much better than the thick/thin bulky I've come up with my previous 3 times at a wheel!
YAY!!!! Gotta LOVE new toys!!!!
Whoo, just two evenings, getting better and spinning that much? Way too cool. Good going! And to repeat what every other spinner who's been doing it a while has told you over and over... Trust us; there will come a day when you wish you could manage to spin that novelty thick'n'thin starter yarn again. ;) Really. 'Cuz, you know, Colinette and others are just way too damned expensive.
(And btw, you can email any LJ blogger as long as they leave their blog URL in a comment. Just send an email to username at livejournal.com. Mail automatically gets forwarded to their real email account, so they can still drop spam into a black hole, but can email back if they recognize you. Hint, hint. [g])
PS - Um, not meaning to be insultingly obvious, but just in case, never assume... You have noticed the blue-highlighted names in Blogger's comments show the person's blog/webpage URL if you hover your mouse over 'em, yes? ::looks apologetic and offers a beer, on theory it's hard to whap someone if you're holding a beer - it might spill::
Very nice Midge. Very nice to spin with a wheel I am guessing. Drop spindle keeps dropping. argh.
Very smooth, Monica, though I'm willing to lose beer in order to whack someone upside the head, I'm less willing to spill wine. So a nice Cab or Pinot and you're safe. :) Yes I do know about the names leading to links but I couldn't find an email address on your blog! Of course I'm senile and going blind - which will be my excuse for bad knitting and spinning - so it could easily have been there. I just didn't spot it.
Congrats! Spinning sure is fun!
::snerks, hastily grabs some good Oregon wine:: Hey, it took me almost a month to find mine in my own profile! (It's under the birth date line on profile page, also not that easily found.) Of course, I can't figure how to find email for anyone on Blogger, so guess we're even, LOL.
Getting more back to subject - I'm sure everyone's fascinated by LJ sidetracks; apologies, folks - I hope we'll be seeing a photo or two of spinning? And what kind of roving are you spinning, anyway? How is Midge behaving for you?
