How Many Girls Get a House for Their Birthday?

I'm still here - I swear! Just buried under furniture and boxes. Moving day was last Sunday; a bunch of people (including our realtor and mortgage broker - does that happen often?) came over to help us haul everything from the rental house to our new (purchased) home around the corner.

I didn't realize how much I didn't like renting until we got into the new place - before we relocated from VT last year, I'd owned my own homes for 20 years, and yes, I'd gotten spoiled. Even though we were responsible for all the money-sucking issues a house presents, I liked that we got to decide how we were going to handle those issues. Our new place is small (just under 1150 sf) but perfect for the two of us. It's in much better shape than our rental house and our stuff looks nicer now that it's in a prettier setting. We've still got a lot to arrange and unpack but I feel really at home here and can't wait to get fully settled in. I'll do pics later.

Tomorrow (the 10th) is my birthday. I'll officially be in my late 40s. I hope I don't have to act mature now or anything. I don't think I'd be very good at it, and why start now?

Happy Birthday. I hope you have a great day...and remember to roll around the floors with glee in your new home. (A friend of mine told me she did that when she bought her first appartment...it really made sense).

Happy birthday! And considering that you were happy to be found out as the "middle finger" I don't think you're going to be acting all mature and stuff. Thankfully! :)

Happy Birthday!

I came over from The Panopticon. I don't know where in the Bay Area you are but I am about 2 hours from SF, in Oakdale (in the Valley) and have put a bug in the ear of my LYS owner about his 1000 Knitters project. Do you think knitters from the Bay Area would make the trip this way if she decided to sponsor him coming out? (I've commented to ask Franklin if that is a real consideration for him...) Drop me a line if you can find the time in all the unpacking.

Woohoo, congratulations, Rachel! And belated happy birthday; hope it was a great one. (Been whacked from post-Harlot blogging, thus delay on congratulatory missive. Hope you've been getting the substitute waytago vibes. [g])
