Fortunately there was very little of that when Kathy and I did our weekly workout/walk this morning. It was a little chilly and a few drops flying here and there, but that was it. Now the temperature has dropped significantly (for CA) and it has been coming down hard for hours. I'm pretty thrilled; we need it!
I also like it because I've been able to spend the day in relaxation mode. I've watched the ballgame (Red Sox won - yay!), napped, caught up on blogs, and done a bit of knitting. In my quest to have different UFOs at the end of this year than I did at the beginning, I have picked up a project I started last summer.
This is Veronik Avery's Lace Ribbon Scarf from Knitty (Spring, 2008) in Handmaiden Sea Silk. Lovely stuff, and the plant fiber/silk blend makes for smooth knitting. It also makes for smooth unraveling so be careful not to drop stitches!
I think my lace mojo may have come back; Earlier this week I suddenly got the rhythm of the pattern and it's moving along pretty quickly.
Actually I think the knitting mojo in general may be on the upswing. Thursday night, I finished my Olive Peasy. It's a great pattern; the only thing I changed was to use an applied i-cord edging on the sleeves and bottom, as I thought it would be more flattering. Here it is drying (Miele is playing guard dog):
Sleeve finishing detail (and probably the most accurate color shot):
Buttons on the card:
And on the sweater:
And here it is on me. Whaddya think?
I'm very happy with it. The yarn (Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool) has a great drape and is light-weight enough so that it's not too warm for this climate. It's a perfect office sweater and I have a lot of DK-weight in my stash, so I may have to make another some day.
In celebration of the return of the lace mojo, my next cast-on (once I finish Lace Ribbon) will be a wrap (pattern undecided) using one of these two beautiful lace-weights I picked up at Stitches:
Lisa Souza's 100% silk in Sedona
Or Abstract Fibers Hepburn in Alfalfa:
Any preference or suggestions? I definitely want a rectangular wrap not a triangle; other than that, I'm open.
Miele spent a lot of time yesterday guarding the sweater.
Trouble prefers to keep an eye (and a butt) on Brian.
*is anyone reading this old enough to remember that song?

Wow, the Peasy looks fabulous on you! As for shawls, what about a Gothic Leaf Stole (Sivia Harding) or Obstacles scarf/shawl from Knitspot? The Obstacles pattern looks similar to the Falling Water scarf we were talking about earlier.
Nice sweater, and nice buttons! I love a well-fitting FO.
And of course I remember that song. Gordon Lightfoot.
In the early mornin' rain
With a dollar in my hand
With an achin' in my heart
And my pockets full of sand...
and Peter, Paul & Mary, too...
but I learned it in the '70's, and I see it was written in 1964.
Aw, I love that song, in a melancholy way. It reminds me of my first semester away at college, a plane ride away from home...(and I'm a child of the eighties; I just grew up listening to Peter, Paul, and Mary.)
Peasy looks great!!! And how on earth do you get an animal to stay OFF a knitted object while it's drying?????
It was a song? :p
Love the sweater! And that green yarn.
xo
Your Peasy looks great!!! I really like it. :) Can you lend me some knitting mojo? Mine seems to have wandered off. haha
