I am HORRIFIED

Online Dating

Mingle2 - Online Dating

PG? Only PG? And they only suggest parental guidance because I used the word 'breast' two times (in reference to the Avon Walk I'm sure) and 'dangerous' once. Am I really that squeaky clean? (This from a girl who once stood up on a bar and yelled 'suck my dick' at her boyfriend.)

What the fuck is up with that?

There. I'm sure that'll help.

Still Unpacking But Doing a Touch of Knitting

Though there have been days where I've just been too freakin' tired at the end to pick up the needles, I have managed to get a little bit of knitting in here and there in the midst of moving. I'm still staying away from the spinning wheel because I want to maintain a little focus, but I'll probably be starting that up in the next week or so. I have to. Because I picked up some Birthday Roving! I got this from The Fiber Fiend. Gorgeous, huh?

Margit lives nearby and does beautiful work. You can order from her site but I wanted to see it in real life first, so I dropped by today to pick it out. The one on the left is Falkland wool which she says is good for beginning spinners (that's me!) in the Mars colorway, and the other two are Merino Superwash in Oregon Coast and October. I'm planning on turning them each into sock yarn.
I've also been knitting!

That's the beginning of Lizard Ridge. I love how the colors are going together, and it's a great break from the fine, hard-to-see lace of.....

Icarus!
This first view is of Icarus, unblocked. Typical lace, doesn't look
like much.
Good think I know it'll look a heck of
a lot better with some blocking. This is only partially stretched out
with some pins - it would have come
off the needles if I'd stretched it all
the way and I already have had to contend with stitches leaping off of needles without permission. No more, thank you very much.
I'm also about to start a small, slightly cheeky (minx that I am) project for the Avon Walk. Can you guess what it'll be? It wasn't my idea but I like it and think it's highly appropriate for the occasion....

How Many Girls Get a House for Their Birthday?

I'm still here - I swear! Just buried under furniture and boxes. Moving day was last Sunday; a bunch of people (including our realtor and mortgage broker - does that happen often?) came over to help us haul everything from the rental house to our new (purchased) home around the corner.

I didn't realize how much I didn't like renting until we got into the new place - before we relocated from VT last year, I'd owned my own homes for 20 years, and yes, I'd gotten spoiled. Even though we were responsible for all the money-sucking issues a house presents, I liked that we got to decide how we were going to handle those issues. Our new place is small (just under 1150 sf) but perfect for the two of us. It's in much better shape than our rental house and our stuff looks nicer now that it's in a prettier setting. We've still got a lot to arrange and unpack but I feel really at home here and can't wait to get fully settled in. I'll do pics later.

Tomorrow (the 10th) is my birthday. I'll officially be in my late 40s. I hope I don't have to act mature now or anything. I don't think I'd be very good at it, and why start now?
